Key Palace Theatre, Redkey Indiana
http://www.keypalacetheatre.com/ Two thumbs up.
A friend told me about this little treasure in Redkey and I knew I had to check it out. I of course had no idea where Redkey was so I had to look it up. Go to Hagerstown find HWY 1 and go North, it is right past the corn field North of Farmland, Indiana ...the middle of nowhere. (there is a map on the website) On March 29th 2008, my wife and a couple of friends made the 50 minute drive up HWY 1 to Redkey to watch the Bruce Katz Band out of NY. Palace regularly hosts world class musicians in an old movie theatre. The owner "Charlie" bought the place in 1986 for $1k and spent the next 4 years fixing it up. They have concerts most weekends, check out the website. Attached to the theatre is a little cafe where I recommend the Zeke burger which is about as big as a watermelon. They also sell beer and wine....which you can take into the show. Cost for 2 tickets, food, gas round trip is about $50. I recommend it for an evening you won't soon forget. It is worth mentioning, that another great Richmond venue to see similar music is the 4th Floor Blues Club.
