12/05/2009 - 9:30pm
Etc/GMT-5

Saturday, December 5, 7:30 P.M.

Goddard Auditorium, Carpenter Hall

The Orchestra is joined by pianist Findlay Cockrell, a long-time professor at SUNY, Albany, & husband of Marcia Wilcox-Cockrell '56.  Cockrell and the orchestra perform the ever-popular Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin, plus Morton Gould's Interplay, another work for piano & orchesta with a strong jazz tinge.  This is balanced by Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 9, From the New World, filled with folk themes picked up during his travels to the United States in 1892.

Free admisson, no tickets required.
