Magazine's list of desirable 'micropolitan' towns includes Richmond
A national business magazine has ranked Richmond 100th in desirable places to live in a new category called micropolitan areas.
The magazine “bizjournals,” a national business magazine with an online edition, listed Richmond 100th in a recent survey of 140 “dreamtowns,” based on 20 statistical areas that include criteria such as average commute time, median household income, management and professional jobs available and home ownership rate.
Micropolitan areas are defined by the U.S. Census Bureau and the Office of Management and Budget as urban areas surrounding a city with a population from 10,000 to 49,999.
The survey was a part of the magazine’s look at the national trend of people moving to smaller communities and suburbs to live and retire.
